Co-Founder and Managing Partner
Steve Lee is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Neoclassic Capital, a global investment firm specializing in digital assets and blockchain technology, with a strategic focus on the United States and Asia. His career spans institutional asset management, liquid digital assets and venture investing across the United States and Asia, giving him a distinctive perspective on both traditional and crypto-native markets.
Before founding Neoclassic, Steve was Investment Director and Head of Asia at BlockTower Capital, an institutional digital asset investment firm backed by Andreessen Horowitz and Union Square Ventures. During his five years at BlockTower, he played a key role across the firm’s global liquid cryptocurrency and early-stage venture strategies while leading its investment activities and expanding its institutional relationships in the Asia-Pacific region.
Steve began his career at Goldman Sachs Asset Management in 2010. From 2010 to 2014, he worked as a portfolio analyst in Singapore, supporting portfolio managers and traders across New York, London, Tokyo and Seoul in portfolio analysis, trade execution and risk management. From 2014 to 2018, he was a multi-asset portfolio manager and FX derivatives trader in Tokyo, developing and managing cross-asset investment strategies for Japanese institutional clients.
Born in South Korea, Steve has spent his career connecting markets across the United States and Asia. Having lived and worked extensively in the United States, Japan, Korea and Singapore, he brings a distinctly cross-border perspective to investing and partnering with founders and institutions across both regions. He is natively fluent in Korean and Japanese.
Steve earned a B.S. in Chemistry and an M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
