Co-Founder and Managing Partner
Steve Lee co-founded Neoclassic Capital in 2024 after spending 5 years at BlockTower Capital, a US-based institutional digital asset investment firm with offices in New York and Miami. BlockTower Capital was founded by a former Goldman Sachs Vice President and a University of Chicago endowment portfolio manager and backed by Andreessen Horowitz and Union Square Ventures. As the Investment Director and Head of Asia, Steve played a crucial role across the firm's global investment strategies, focusing on liquid cryptocurrencies in public markets, early-stage venture investments and expanding the firm's franchise in the Asia-Pacific region.
Steve began his career in the financial services sector in 2010. From 2010 to 2018, he worked with Goldman Sachs in both Singapore and Tokyo. In the initial four years, from 2010 to 2014, Steve served as a portfolio analyst within GSAM in Singapore. In this capacity, he offered analysis and support to portfolio managers and traders in New York, London, Tokyo, and Seoul, covering aspects such as portfolio analysis, trade execution, and risk management. Following this, from 2014 to 2018, Steve took on the role of a multi-asset portfolio manager and FX derivative trader at GSAM in Tokyo, exclusively serving Japanese institutional clients.
Steve was born in South Korea and has spent a decade living in South Korea, Japan, and the United States, respectively. Additionally, he lived in Singapore for four years. Steve is natively fluent in Japanese and Korean.
Steve earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Master of Science in Material Science and Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
